People watch as Peter Lataille surfs a wave on the Penobscot River near Indian Island Wednesday afternoon using a board he made. Lataille is an expert whitewater kayaker and also surfs river and ocean waves. The wave is refered to as Joe P’s in the community of whitewater enthusiasts, who name certain sopts that provide best opportunities for enjoying their sport.
