Brianna Spaulding of Belfast (bottom left) is as lively as any eight-year-old girl you will meet. But she has dysautonomia, a condition which causes her nervous system to malfunction, and also battles with a mitochondrial disorder, which causes her muscle weakness, pain and gastrointestinal issues. Her mother Shanna Grindle (left) and stepfather Gregg Grindle had to take her to several hospitals over the last two years. Brianna will also be the co-author of children’s book, thanks to the Red Fred Project. Dallas Graham of Salt Lake City, Utah spearheads the project that helps 50 children with critical illnesses in all 50 states become authors.
